In the framework of the United Nations General Assembly, which has been taking place since Monday in New York City, Bolivian President Luis Arce met with the chief executive of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Mauricio Claver-Carone, and Russian Foreign Minister Serguéi Lavrov.

According to Diego Pary, Bolivias's Ambassador to the UN, the meeting with the head of the IDB sesrved to evaluate the projects that are promoted in the country and new possibilities of work between the IDB and Bolivia.

Diego Pary, in an interview with the program La Razon Radio, which is transmitted by digital platforms, said that President Arce asked for a renegotiation or relief of the debt that the country has with the IDB.  The Bolivian ambassador to the UN limited himself to point out: "We are one of the countries that are promoting debt relief.  We have been quite firm that the multilateral financial organizations have to relax their systems of pressure to the States for the payment of the debt and in this framework is one of the central issues that Bolivia is precisely promoting.  We will also raise it in the framework of the United Nations."

Diego Pary explained that with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Bolivian president addressed the programmatic agenda that the country has with Moscow.  "With Russia, the meeting with the foreign minister served to address the different issues that we are having, which is part of the programmatic agenda that Bolivia and Russia have been working on."

President Luis Arce's address before the UN General Assembly took place on Thursday.  He spoke about the effects of climate change, world peace, foreign debt relief, as well as the political, economic and social situation of the country.
