Cuban Ambassador to Germany Juana Martinez on Sunday highlighted the results of the Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe (ECRE), Berlin-2022, due to its contributions to strengthening the nation-emigration ties and the defense of the homeland.

We note the in-depth debates, commitment to and love for the participants’ homeland, and the proposals for concrete actions to accompany it in the fight against the United States blockade, Martinez told Prensa Latina on Sunday, regarding the forum that ended with a meeting of solidarity at the Brandenburg Gate and a final declaration.

The debates and the organization of the event that started on Friday were the results of months of preparation, during which Cuban residents across the continent took part, the diplomat stated.

She pointed out that the support for the process chosen sovereignly by the Caribbean nation and the demand to live in peace prevailed at the ECRE in Berlin.

Martinez underlined the condemnation of the brutal blockade imposed by Washington on Cuba and its economic war.

She also assessed the delegates’ awareness of the need to join forces and articulate in defense of the homeland and its values of solidarity and humanity.

According to Martinez, the forum held in Berlin invited to recall the talks that took place 44 years ago among emigrants, particularly residents in the United States, and the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, who expressed the importance of rapprochement at the time.

Fidel Castro’s messages are still valid, and we saw the willingness of Cubans in Europe to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development and help their compatriots in light of difficulties, the diplomat added.

The Cuban ambassador highlighted the greetings sent to the meeting by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ana Teresita Gonzalez, Committees for the Defense of the Revolution National Coordinator Gerardo Hernandez, and other authorities and prominent figures.

Martinez thanked Congressman Enrique Aleman, and Laura Pujol, deputy director of the General Directorate of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cuban Residents Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their presence at the ECRE.
