The international convention and fair, Cubaindustria 2016, will today begin three thematic conferences on chemistry and electronics, automatics, quality management and environmental protection.

Cuban Industry Minister, Salvador Pardo, said that the event, attended by specialists from 29 countries, would present 11 conferences on a wide variety of issues, including renewable energy, packaging, the iron and steel industry and refrigeration and recycling.

The organizing committee today announced the presentation of a plan to promote value chains in the national music industry, supported by the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

An international design forum will also take place and a business round linked to the chemical industry will begin. They will both contribute to establishing greater links with foreign companies, the promoters of the event say.

In parallel to the technical discussions at the International Conference Center in Havana is an exhibition of equipment, machinery, new technology, parts and components at the PABEXPO exhibition centre.

CubaIndustria 2016, running from June 20th to 24th, has confirmed the progress of major investing initiatives on the island with the participation of Russia and China with respect to transportation, iron and steel and the production of household appliances and consumer goods, among other areas.

Representatives of UNIDO report that an industrial modernization project to produce fertilizers and agricultural machinery will be implemented this year. This is as part of a framework program signed in late 2015.
