The Iranian President Advisor for Cultural Affairs Hesamoddin Ashena has recognized the prestige of the Cuban Revolution and its historical leaders and has called for closer bilateral ties, diplomatic sources report today. Ashena received Cuba's ambassador in Tehran, Vladimir González, who was accompanied by the second secretary of the island's diplomatic mission, Norberto Escalona, and showed his interest in the current affairs of the Latin American country.

The Cuban embassy pointed out that during the meeting, Quesada thanked the Iranian government for the interest they have shown in Cuba and explained in detail the process that has been initiated between Cuba and the United States to normalize their bilateral ties.

The issue has captivated the attention of the Persian nation, as the Revolutions of Cuba and Iran have operated for decades in a hostile scenario, due to aggressive policies from Washington.

Ashena, who is also the director of the Center for Strategic Research of the Islamic Republic invited the ambassador to deliver a lecture to specialists and academics at the institution.

Quesada's presentation will focus on the restoration of diplomatic relations between Havana and Washington, as well as the issues that have been addressed during the last 17 months of dialogue between the two governments.

The ambassador also stressed the importance of strengthening ties between his nation and the Persian country by all possible means, promoted by cultural and academic exchanges.

In addition, he recalled the 37 years of the restoration of diplomatic ties between the two countries, to be celebrated on August 8th.
