Fidel Castro belongs to the world, stated the Chairman of the State Duma (lower house of the Russian Parliament), Vyacheslav Volodin, while inaugurating today the exhibition "Soldier of the Era," dedicated to the distinguished Cuban leader.

The history of Cuba's struggle for freedom must be passed on to future generations as an example of how a united people can prevail, Volodin said during the opening of the exhibit, dedicated to the centenary of Fidel Castro's birth, according to Prensa Latina.

Organized by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the exhibition brings together archival photographs, documents, and historical materials on the revolutionary struggle and the development of socialist Cuba.

Volodin highlighted the contributions of Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Raúl Castro, and many others who, guided by the idea of sovereignty, did everything so that the country, in the face of the American giant, would obtain its rights and be free.

"For our part, we are doing everything possible to ensure that the ideas put forward by Fidel Castro, the ideas supported by our country, are materialized. That the Cuban people remain free in planning their own prospects and do everything on their own, not under the dictation of other countries," he declared.

Furthermore, he clarified that warm relations have been forged between the peoples of Russia and Cuba. "That is why we consider it wrong to impose sanctions, to impose blockades. We understand that this is necessary to guarantee Russia's freedom, to guarantee the future of our children," said the State Duma Chairman.

The opening ceremony was attended as guests of honor by Cuban Ambassador Enrique Orta and Venezuelan Ambassador Jesús Rafael Salazar, as well as heads, deputy heads of factions, and deputies from all political parties in the Duma, who also spoke to honor the memory of the Cuban revolutionary.

For his part, Orta noted that "today we remember a leader who dedicated his entire life to the struggle for independence and social justice, not only for his people but for all the oppressed of the world. With the revolution he led, he forever changed the destiny of Cuba, a small island that came to occupy a prominent place in history."

"Precisely under Fidel Castro's leadership, the ties of friendship and solidarity between Cuba and the peoples of the Soviet Union became solid and based on mutual respect and trust, something that can be appreciated in many of the photos exhibited here," the diplomat emphasized.
