The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, attended today the Solidarity Forum alongside representatives from several countries as part of the 1st International Colloquium "Fidel: Legacy and Future."

During the meeting, the Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Noemí Rabaza, called for strengthening international solidarity with the island in response to the intensification of the U.S. blockade.

In her address, Rabaza highlighted that Cuba's commitment to solidarity is a foundational value of the nation, established and reinforced throughout the independence struggles of Latin America and the Caribbean.

"Fidel (Castro) considered that being an internationalist is paying our own debt to humanity," she stated.

The ICAP vice president recalled that the historic leader understood early on that Cuba's liberation was not an isolated project and that the nation's dignity was inextricably linked to the dignity of all the world's peoples.

"Solidarity is the most powerful moral weapon we have against injustice," she emphasized.

Speaking before delegates from approximately 63 countries, Rabaza denounced the impact of the U.S. blockade on the daily lives of Cubans.

"The silent genocide launched against Cuba causes immeasurable damage and terrible limitations. The infant mortality rate climbed from 4.0 to 9.9 per thousand live births, demonstrating that Cuba is living through a war without bombs," she stated.

The ICAP official called on solidarity movements to undertake four strategic tasks outlined by President Díaz-Canel: spread the truth about Cuba, coordinate effective networks, strengthen solidarity with new sectors, and promote collaborative cooperation.

"Cuba is not a threat. We are a noble people who save lives where others destroy, sending doctors and teachers where others send bombs," she emphasized.

She concluded her speech with a message of resistance: "Cuba continues to resist, heroically and creatively, against all of this."
