The Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), Mukhisa Kituyi, will make a work visit to Cuba from June 18 thru 21, 2016, reported the Cuban Foreign Ministry. According to the source, the high international official sustained in Geneva, Switzerland, a meeting with Cuban Ambassador to the UN Office and other International Organizations accredited in that city, Anayansi Rodríguez.

At the meeting, held in a climate of cooperation and fraternity, they exchanged about the visit, his work agenda and the expected results.

The meeting also served to approach topics of interest related to cooperation actions between Cuba and the international organization that deals with trade topics from the development perspective.

The Cuban representative took the occasion to thank for the traditional support of Unctad to the battle of the Cuban people for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

In that context, she expressed gratitude for the substantial contribution of that organization to the Report of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, regarding the resolution of the General Assembly of that organism that each year demands the end of the blockade.
