Minnesota School District Reports Arrests of Young Students by Immigration Agents
Four minors, including a five-year-old boy and a ten-year-old girl, have been detained in the Columbia Heights school district in Minnesota by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents amid intensive raids being conducted by the administration of President Donald Trump in this state, according to school officials.

Arrest of Five-Year-Old Liam Ramos and His Father
Liam Conejo Ramos, age five, and his father were detained at the entrance to their home on Tuesday, just as they were returning from school, according to a press release from Columbia Heights Public Schools.

After arresting the father, agents also took the young boy instead of leaving him in the care of another adult at home, as reported by the school district. Both are now in the custody of Homeland Security authorities in San Antonio, according to The Washington Post.

Additional Student Detentions Reported
Conejo Ramos's case is not the only one involving minors detained by ICE agents. School officials also reported that three more Columbia Heights students have been arrested this month.

A 17-year-old high school student, on his way to school, was forced out of his vehicle by ICE agents on Tuesday morning and taken away. A week earlier, a ten-year-old girl, a fourth-grade student, was also detained along with her mother; both, according to school authorities, are in a detention center in Texas.

School District Expresses Heightened Concern
Columbia Heights Public Schools have expressed deep concern over the detentions, which are intensifying tensions in Minnesota regarding ICE agents. This follows the death of Renée Good, 37, who was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

Context of Federal Operations and Political Visit
In recent weeks, the Trump administration has launched a major operation in Minnesota after a documentary by a conservative YouTuber refocused attention on daycare fraud cases in the state involving members of the Somali community.

A visit by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Minnesota is scheduled for this Wednesday, aimed at reaffirming Trump's harsh immigration policies, which are also intensifying raids in other parts of the country, such as Maine.
