Cuban television has once again placed itself on the audiovisual map of Latin America. At the 2025 edition of the TAL Awards, one of the most important recognitions for public and cultural television in the region, Cubavisión won in the Educational Content category with the telefilm Después del abrazo, from the popular program Una calle, mil caminos.
The ceremony capped the celebration of the best in Latin American television production, in a year that recognized 34 works from 21 channels and 7 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, and Uruguay. In this diverse and demanding field, the award received by Cuba reaffirms the relevance and quality of its audiovisual storytelling.
Despues del abrazo is a work that delves into sensitive and contemporary themes from an intimate, youthful, and profoundly human perspective. With a restrained and honest tone, the telefilm bets on reflection and dialogue, demonstrating that educational television can be, at the same time, relatable, emotional, and necessary.
The award recognizes, above all, the collective work of a creative team committed to artistic rigor and social sensitivity. The production featured a script and direction by Annia Quesada, performances by Amanda Peñalver, Annabel Novo, and Marcela García Olivera, original music by Duo Lür, and general production by Isaúl Ortega.
Beyond the laurel, this recognition confirms that stories told from Cuba, with its own voices, concerns, and contexts, naturally engage in dialogue with the rest of the region and find a place in the Latin American audiovisual landscape.
Cubavisión thanks the TAL Network for fostering this space for meeting, visibility, and recognition for public television, and celebrates an award that honors not only a single work, but a way of storytelling rooted in culture, education, and sensitivity.
The TAL 2025 Awards once again demonstrate that public television remains fertile ground for narrating, moving, and thinking collectively.
