especiales

The president of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP), Livan Alonso Izquierdo, and the vice president of that body, Yanet Hernández Pérez, led the monitoring of the water supply status in the capital this Sunday. Immediate actions were arranged to confront the problems related to this basic service, as reported by the newspaper Tribuna de La Habana.
Yosvany Rubí Bazail, general director of Aguas de La Habana, informed that the municipalities with the greatest complexity were Arroyo Naranjo and San Miguel del Padrón. Given this situation, the creation of work groups was ordered to address the issues on the ground and respond to the concerns of the population.
Regarding the number of affected areas, the municipalities of Boyeros, Habana del Este, and Regla were also mentioned. The latter presented a specific operational difficulty, leading to the decision to establish a monitoring team.
Urgent Measures and Priorities
Alonso Izquierdo emphasized the urgency of increasing the fleet of water tanker trucks, after it was revealed that only 32 transportation units were available for the day, a figure lower than the previous week.
The executives of Aguas de La Habana assured that this Monday, water supply via tanker trucks would be guaranteed to six schools in the Guanabacoa municipality, due to the impossibility of receiving it through the hydraulic networks.
Another highlighted priority was the reduction and elimination of sewage discharges, with the most critical situation located in the municipality of Old Havana.
Ongoing Monitoring and Repairs
The capital's highest authorities indicated they maintain permanent communication with the representatives of Aguas de La Habana in the territories, to have precise and updated information on the issues.
At the beginning of the session, the progress of the pumping equipment repair process was verified at the company's workshops, and instructions were given to expedite the work.
The analysis included the assessments made at the meeting in support of the capital, headed yesterday by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, president of the National Defense Council.
