Serenamente, the second posthumous album by Vicente Feliú, founder of the Cuban Nueva Trova Movement, produced by Silvio Rodríguez and recorded in 2006 at Ojalá Studios, will be released on digital music platforms this November 11.

A statement from Ojalá Studios, accessed by the Cuban News Agency (ACN), notes that the release coincides with the 78th anniversary of the author of Créeme, as well as with the celebration of the International Songwriter’s Day. On October 31, Al filo de las cuatro y media was released as a preview, followed by Si te conozco on November 7—both featured on the forthcoming record.

This second production includes works created during Feliú’s mature artistic period and features prominent voices and instrumentalists. The album’s musical production was led by Ana Lourdes Martínez, with recording, mixing, and mastering by sound engineer Olimpia Calderón Arias, design by César David Morales, and a cover photograph by Silvio Rodríguez himself.

Aurora Feliú, daughter of the founder of the Ibero-American project Canto de Todos, wrote the album’s introductory words, expressing mixed emotions regarding this posthumous release. The previous album, Heréticas, featured songs written by Vicente during the 1970s.

“My father was a kind of little angel who had landed on earth, an embodied spiritual guide, and that is how I have always felt him—especially when revisiting his life’s work in retrospect. He once told me he was giving me the three little stars that form Orion’s Belt, where I have inevitably placed him forever. That Orion I now recognize as a portal between worlds.”

“In this album, I once again confirm his mission to guide, to educate, to accompany through love—in that line that concludes Apuntes para una canción al Pueblo: ‘we all have the sky, we all are God.’ I am amazed at the level of awareness in that phrase, written when he was so young. It reaffirms my certainty that he was always a great soul, an old and wise soul revealed through his deep blue eyes…”

On November 11, the day Vicente Feliú Miranda would have turned 78, Serenely will fill the virtual space with his steadfast, coherent, and committed music—a tribute to his life and ever-relevant legacy.
