Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Receives Cuban Counterpart

Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh met today with his Cuban counterpart, Jorge Luis Tapia, on the sidelines of the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4) review session.
In a post on social media platform X, Tiruneh noted that the two nations share a longstanding diplomatic relationship spanning more than 50 years. He revealed that their discussions explored ways to further strengthen bilateral ties across multiple cooperative sectors.
"Our dialogue was productive and forward-looking. We reaffirmed our mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral collaboration, particularly in key political and economic areas that promise shared benefits for both nations," Tiruneh stated.
Tapia praised Ethiopia's ongoing development efforts, particularly its recent progress in food security, and expressed admiration for the visible transformations taking place in Addis Ababa.
Earlier, the Cuban deputy prime minister laid floral wreaths at the Ethiopia-Cuba Friendship Park memorials honoring the 163 Caribbean soldiers who fell defending the African nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadera Abera accompanied Tapia during the visit, emphasizing that the friendship between the two countries remains enduring, defined by a legacy of shared sacrifice.
The meeting underscores the continued diplomatic engagement between Ethiopia and Cuba as both nations seek to deepen cooperation in strategic areas.
