Gaza Civil Defense calls for a truce to save lives

From the heart of the Gaza Strip, subjected to death at every moment, I call on mediators to work for an immediate and comprehensive humanitarian truce, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said.
In a message posted on Telegram, Basal called for a ceasefire that would save the lives of the more than two million Palestinians living in that territory, under brutal Zionist aggression since October 2023.
“Civilians are not part of this war and should not pay the consequences of the delay in political understandings,” he stressed.
The spokesperson also urged the world to take urgent measures to save the inhabitants of the coastal enclave.
The official denounced the numerous people trapped under the rubble, as well as the number of “wounded without medicine and displaced without shelter.”
This week, Basal accused the Israeli army of preventing Civil Defense teams from reaching destroyed homes in northern Gaza City, despite reports of numerous bodies lying under the rubble as a result of the bombing.
More than 57,000 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli military offensive against Gaza, which began in October 2023, while 134,000 were wounded, and thousands more are missing, according to official figures.
