Co-Lab: a look at digital transformation
especiales

Cuba designs strategies to promote digital transformation, such as the Citizen Innovation Laboratory (Co-Lab) designed by the Union of Cuban IT Technicians (UIC).
Reinaldo Alonso Reyes, president of the UIC in the province of Camagüey and leader of Co-Lab, said that this local development project responds to the need to enable innovation processes in line with the digital transformation policy through the design of digital solutions and the provision of consultancy services.
He remarked that Co-Lab is also working on artificial intelligence projects together with the provincial university, as well as on an idea about smart cities bound to be implemented at local level to promote and make the most of the province’s tourism and cultural assets.
The operation and benefits of structures like Co-Lab were discussed during the first sessions of the National Conference of the UIC, which closes its doors today in Havana.
