An unsuspecting reader might wonder why there’s so much interest in knowing what happened on Channel 41, better known as América TV, a widely watched television station in the microcosm of South Florida.

Well, for anyone interested in Cuban reality and its corresponding manipulation from that territory, 90 miles from Cuba, the event should be at least curious.

Delving deeper into the matter inevitably leads to encountering, once again, the political rottenness of the anti-Cuban mafia circle, which reigns supreme in this portion of the United States.

The news of the closure of América TV, certainly an iconic channel for the worst reasons, quickly spread like wildfire through the Hispanic community, where it ranks third in average annual viewers.

It occurred that it was forced; its employees arrived at the channel and were not even allowed to remove their personal belongings, a practice that seems to be in fashion in that country now, as recently happened with the USAID.

The matter is linked to a lengthy judicial process that has been ongoing since at least 2019, when the owners, who until a few days ago, declared bankruptcy under the state's bankruptcy law.

New creditor shareholders attempted to take over the channel, but to no avail. Of course, some of their former bosses and advisors are part of the anti-Cuban gang and, consequently, act as such, like hired thugs.

Finally, in May 2025, a court finally ruled on the immediate liquidation of the displaced former owners and ordered the immediate transfer of the facilities and other assets to those who won the lawsuit.

América TV and the Unconventional War Against Cuba

América TV's ratings, program types, and target audiences all conspire to expose the channel as the most hostile toward Cuba. Its program schedule and news coverage are the most intensely critical of the Cuban Revolution, unscrupulously spread lies. Until at least May 8, it was part of the large number of media organized and remotely controlled, primarily to publicize the array of pretexts used by the anti-Cuban reaction to justify aggression against the Cuban family.

However, this is only the tip of the iceberg, part of the dark history surrounding the entity. A simple examination provides other elements that conclusively demonstrate its sinister anti-Cuban intentions.

Let's start with Mr. Marcell Felipe, a lawyer of Cuban origin, who due to his sordid activities some consider him "the conscience of Cuban Americans." Imagine what kind of character could have earned that status in the parallel universe of the Cuban-American mafia.

Felipe is a staunch defender of the most extreme policies against Cuba, such as the complete severance of all ties, including those between families on both sides of the Florida Straits, and advocates for the complete destruction of the Revolution. It turns out that at least since 2016, this individual has established himself at the channel, either as a major shareholder or as a key advisor and counselor on its editorial line.

In 2018, Felipe founded the Inspire America Foundation, considered the successor to the Cuban-American Foundation, sadly remembered for sheltering anti-Cuban mob since the Reagan administration and which practically languished due to its obvious links to terrorism.

As expected, associates of the Inspire America Foundation include Marco Rubio, Carlos Giménez, and other personages, such as that fake invalid Armando Valladares, also a member of the Díaz-Balart family, the infamous Carlos Alberto Montaner, and the criminal Otto Reich, among others who make up the board of directors of the much-discussed foundation.

Inspire America has had little media presence, so it's easy to see that it seems more like a cover, firstly for its members' tax evasion; also to hide corrupt practices of all kinds, always under the banner of the fight against "Castros." How much federal money it has received or still receives is a matter that the apparatus created by Elon Musk must elucidate, precisely to reduce federal spending. So the Foundation, like other creations where the Secretary of State is involved, ends up being another piece contrary to President Trump's dictates.

Now a possible new chapter opens for this famous television station. What editorial line will it follow, what new content will it be, or perhaps who the potential enemies will be? It’s to be hoped, for the sake of its television audience, that it will assume an attitude of moderation and respect, that it will stop being a platform for broadcasting falsehoods and spurring hatred among Cubans. We shall see.
