Massive Crash at Festival in Canada Leaves Several Dead and Injured

The Vancouver Police Department, Canada, announced on its X account this Saturday that a massive crash at a street festival for the city's Filipino community has left several dead and numerous injured.
According to sources from local media outlet Global News, at least nine people, including a child, were killed, while six others were injured.
According to police information, the driver, who has been arrested, drove into the crowd shortly after 8:00 p.m. (local time). "We will provide more information as the investigation develops," the police said.
Police later detailed that the accident occurred at approximately 8:14 p.m. during the Lapu Lapu Day celebrations. They also reported that the suspect, a 30-year-old Vancouver man, was arrested at the scene.
Videos posted on social media show several ambulance crews providing first aid to injured people at the scene of the accident. Other footage shows damaged cars and the alleged perpetrator.
For his part, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said on his Instagram account that he is deeply "shocked" and "saddened" by what happened. "Our thoughts are with all those affected and the Filipino community in Vancouver during this incredibly difficult time," he added.
