The renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Eduardo Sosa Laurencio, who recently passed away, would have turned 53 today, but his artistic work and legacy live on and are honored in the national culture.

Sosa, born in Santiago de Cuba on April 18, 1972, was a prominent troubadour and composer who captivated audiences with his songs, steeped in traditional roots and a distinctly Cuban style.  He also led the renowned "Pepe Sánchez" Trova Festival for nearly fifteen years.

This Thursday, on the eve of the beloved singer's 53rd birthday, his children, Rafael and Claudia Elena Sosa Gordillo, along with his brother, Cándido José Sosa Oliveros, presented personal items that treasure the artist's history to the National Museum of Music in this capital.

The family members donated the guayabera he proudly wore at important moments, medals received throughout his career, the album "Cabalgando con Fidel," and his ID as a Deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power.

On the occasion, Sonia Pérez Cassola, director of the Museum, gave the opening remarks, while Osmani Ibarra Ortiz, deputy technical director, shared intimate anecdotes about the troubadour who passed away on February 12, 2025.

Performer Annie Garcés moved the audience with her performance of "La Bayamesa" and "A mí me gusta Compay," Sosa's signature songs, while the original score of the Bayamo Anthem presided over the ceremony.

Participating in the event were Indira Fajardo Ramírez, president of the Cuban Music Institute; Carlos Estrada Gómez, director of Programming and Communications; and Víctor Rodríguez García, director of the National Center for Popular Music, according to the center.
