Cuban judoka Ivan Silva will fight on Sunday for one of the bronze medals in the 90-ilogram division at the Grand Slam in Tashkent, in another discreet tournament for Latin America.
Second place in Baku-2018, the 28-year-old Cuban athlete will take the tatami against the Uzbek Davlat Bobonov in the discussion of the medals of the third and last day of a competition that brought together 495 athletes from 68 countries.
Silva dominated in his first two bouts against local Azizbek Avazmuradov and Lebanese Caramnov Sagaipov, before losing in the quarterfinals against Russian Mikhail Igolnikov, who competes under a neutral flag. In the repechage, the Cuban judoka eliminated the Romanian Alex Cret, in a category in which the Bulgarian Ivaylo Ivanov and the Greek Theodoros Tselidis will fight for the crown.
