Havana, Dec 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuba is currently boosting to diversify its sugar agribusiness openings, giving priority to send molasses obtained in the mills to the rum production, a specialized source reported Thursday.

In an interview with Prensa Latina, Mariela Gallardo, Director-General of the Cuban Institute for Research on Sugar Cane Derivatives (ICIDCA), said ICIDCA provides technical advice to rum distilleries.

ICIDCA – belonging to the Azcuba Sugar Business Group – presented its Premium Aguja Blanca rum mid-2022, named after the American writer Ernest Hemingway.

Associated with that brand, the Antonio Sánchez sugar-mill, located about 350 kilometers southeast of the Cuban capital, will soon manufacture white rums.

Gallardo highlighted ICIDCA´s works done aimed at a greater use of sugarcane wax, which contributes to a group of industrial items.
