Teheran, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Iran described the oppressive measures adopted by the United States against the Islamic Republic in order to impose its political designs as war crimes and crimes against humanity, local media highlighted on Friday.
Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated that the economic siege decreed by Washington against the Islamic nation undermined the citizens' health and safety.
Despite its scientific achievements, the Islamic Republic lacks medicines and supplies, due to the unilateral US sanctions that violate the United Nations Charter and international laws.
That policy of coercion led to reductions in the Iranian budgets for the health system, because there are difficulties in importing equipment and technologies, the diplomat said.
Now, he added, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, sanctions influence the negative trend of the disease in the country, above all in women, children, adolescents, the elderly and people with disabilities.
