”Chapeando” will include several unreleased themes featuring the customary style of the band, in addition to some boleros written by maestro and director Juan Formell years before.

 

The CD will be marketed under Unicornio label, of Abdala Productions and will encompass 10-12 tracks.

 

Juan Formell himself will be in charge of the musical production of the new CD, while Eduardo Ramos, former bassist of Pablo Milanés, founder of the New Trova (Song) Movement and director of the record label, will take charge of its executive production.

Ever since 2002, the band forms part of the catalog of the Unicornio Labe, with its previous dischographic production “En el Malecón de La Habana”, recorded live at La Piragua dance area, in Havana, and that obtained several nominations to the Cubadisco Award and the Latin Grammies.

Continuator of the traditional Cuban charangas, Los Van Van is still today, and even after more than twenty-five years, the Island’s most popular and beloved dance band. Its long career has been led since its founding by its music director Juan Formell, a real fan of both Benny Moré and Cuban “son”.
