Cuba with 200 Centers for Scientific Development
Cuba now has more than 200 centers for scientific development and investigations, whose effects on public health place Cuba among the first in Latin America, authorities of the island have asserted.
According to Fernando Gonzalez, first vice minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, there are another 800 centers in the process of development that apply subsystems of technological innovation and environmental protection.
Gonzalez reported that Cuba also has 65 higher education institutions with subsidiaries in municipalities, where different investigations are carried out.
He said that the fundamental pillar of Cuban science policy is selfless cooperation and the integration of all the factors, and the application of the results for the socio-economic development of the country.
Since the victory of the revolution in 1959, Cuba began to develop knowledge, technologies and products that have been acknowledged worldwide.
Among those achievements are the Va-Mengoc-BC vaccine for meningitis B and the vaccine against Hepatitis B.
