North Korea To Respond to US, South Korean Provocations
The Peoples democratic Republic of Korea (PDRK) will legally respond to the military manoeuvres that United States and South Korea will carry out near its territory, announced the country''s National Defense Commission.
The response to that exercise that represents a nuclear threat to its territory could also mean, if necessary, the use of North Korea's nuclear potential, affirmed the Commission in a communiqué.
Faced with the US violation of the spirit of the September 19 joint communiquw, when they promised not to invade or attack North Korea, a natural option for the army and Korean people is to adopt all the measures necessary to respond to any attack, added the announcement.
The joint manoeuvres organized by Washington and Seoul involve the USS George Washington nuclear combat aircraft carriers, based in Japan, along with 20 other warships and about 200 fighter bombers.
These military exercises in waters of the Korean peninsula are taking place after the sinking of the "Cheonan", a South Korean ship that the United States and Seoul hold North Korea responsible for.
